Alternative Apple iPod Radio Remote FM Radio Receiver & Transmitter

Posted: 20 Dec 2008 03:46 AM CST

Personally, I think all the iPods produced by Apple are really cool, innovative user interface and a slick eye catching design, however, the only thing stopping me from purchasing an iPod is the lack of FM receiver, which I believes every mp3 should have.

Like all Apple products, all bells and whistle comes with a cost, the Apple iPod Radio Remote is a FM receiver made by Apple, it is basically a plug and play add-on feature that is going to cost you $50 dollars, and it doesn’t work with iPod Touch, no reason given. Currently there are two alternatives FM receiver for iPod in the market, they are:

iFM, by Griffin Technologies

For half the price of Apple’s iPod Remote, this is the best bargain for those looking for an alternative, it is more or less the same with Apple’s iPod Remote, it draws power from the iPod, and the only difference is the weight, which is not significantly noticeable.

FM Xtra 2.0, by Digisette

Only Available in the UK, and it is powered by two AAA batteries, this is probably the worst or shall we say, user unfriendly FM receiver for iPod. Not to mention the design is horrible.

Top 3 Cheapest and Best UK Web Hosting Value for Money

Top 3 Cheapest and Best UK Web Hosting Value for Money

Unlimited Disk Space & Unmetered Bandwidth? In all honesty, web hosting is a big business in the world wide web, not only the margin is high, the risk involved are essentially lower than most businesses, high return low risk, that’s what web hosting is all about.

Finding a rock solid good web hosting value for money can be tough, it's even tougher for a person with little knowledge in the world of internet, having said that, I’ve compiled a list of reliable web hosting company valued for your money, here goes:

Media Temple - This is by far the best web hosting company I’ve ever subscribed to, not only its reliable, it is value for money. It is not cheap. Highly recommended for high end user.

Host Gator - By far the best web hosting company for beginners, value for money and allows the admin to install various scripts deemed necessary for a successful blog. Highly recommended for beginners.

GoDaddy - Its cheap and relatively a very big web hosting company, starting with USD3 - 4 per month, it is good for beginners but once your visitors increased tenfold or more, they literally shut you off without notice, based on my past experience, they even refused to give me a backup copy of my blog, which I have to use the previous month’s backup and restore my blog. GoDaddy is probably last on my list, but still somewhat reliable. Another drawback is the lack of support for 3rd party script, GoDaddy is well known for not allowing certain scripts to run on their server due to security reasons.

Based on my 10 years experience in web hosting subscription, I’ve come to conclude that money spend on a much more expensive web hosting is well worth the money, most web hosting company would literally cut you off from their server once you’ve over consumed the bandwidth or shows sign of a sudden spiked in visitors, however, a reliable web hosting does not cut you off without notice, instead, they bill you, which can be a good thing because to lose a visitors is the last thing you want.

p.s. Do not take the ‘Unlimited Disk Space & Unmetered Bandwidth’ as advertised by web hosting company for real, there is no such thing as free lunch, as I’ve mentioned before my past experience with GoDaddy, I was promised a 20GB of bandwidth, but due to the sudden spike in visitors, I was told that they could no longer host my blog when the total bandwidth consumed for the entire month was only 10% of the promised bandwidth.

Global Recession and Internet Revenue

The current global economy doesn’t seem to be in good health, having said that, I’m finding it rather tough to secure a full-time job at the time of writing. Furthermore, my internet revenue is going down south, this is not a big surprise because everything is interlinked one way or the other. Hopefully the global economy recovers by the end of 2009.
